2023 has certainly kicked off to a flying start!

Bonza, Australia's only independent low-cost carrier and newest airline, has been granted its licence to fly by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). 

The launch of the airline follows a bumper season for Sunshine Coast Airport, which according to the Courier Mail forecast it would have more than 150,000 visitors through the terminal in December 2022, compared to less than 62,000 in December 2021.

Tourism and aviation are two of the Sunshine Coast's seven high-value industries. According to the Courier Mail, tourism businesses have recorded an “off-the-charts” season, contributing to continued growth in the region.
