Renowned as a thriving business destination even before, during and since the pandemic, the Sunshine Coast has continued its growth trajectory. Recent economic data shows the region is outperforming many others, take a read!
Figures released by economy.id show the region’s Gross Regional Product soared by 8.1% to the financial year ending June 2022. That’s compared to a growth of 3.7% for Australia’s economy and 4.5% for Australia’s regional economy.
The Sunshine Coast also experienced a 26% decrease in unemployment, down to 2.8%, with almost 180,000 more residents entering employment.
The region’s growth is being carefully guided by the Regional Economic Development Strategy 2013-2033.
Additionally, the recent recognition of the Sunshine Coast as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve means the region now proudly stands as an international site of excellence and an area of natural beauty.
Becoming a biosphere demonstrates the Sunshine Coast's commitment to remain future facing. It will help enhance the region’s national and international reputation and support our economy, lifestyle and environment for future generations.
