Hi there

The Sunshine Coast is fast delivering on its goal to be Australia’s most balanced business investment and lifestyle destination, where the vision for sustainable economic growth is supported by continued public and private sector investment.

From major milestones signalling the maturity of the new Maroochydore City Centre, to the evolution of a geospatial industry built on submarine broadband infrastructure, the Sunshine Coast is demonstrating both depth and diversity in its economic growth.

Confidence from global and national investors remains strong and long-term opportunities are being reinforced by major transport infrastructure projects like The Wave and Sunshine Coast Airport's terminal expansion and precinct development.

The hotel sector continues to flourish, with the imminent May opening of a new international hotel in Mooloolaba. A second luxury hotel is also in development in Maroochydore, home to one of the region’s most vibrant entertainment precincts.

Increasing international connections, such as newly launched direct flights to Asia, are bringing global markets closer than ever. Tangible initiatives like Sunshine Coast’s Seafood in Singapore trade mission are connecting local business to broader Asia- Pacific markets.

This month we're sharing news on:

  • CBD milestones signal maturity
  • From subsea to space: geospatial transformation
  • Start Here: Discovering Sunshine Coast's innovation ecosystem
  • 'Asia is closer than ever': direct route opens new opportunities
  • KPAT Hotels ‘invests with confidence’ in Sunshine Coast’s long-term growth

  • Construction started on the first train station for The Wave transport corridor

These diverse stories reflect just some of the business milestones happening on the Sunshine Coast. The common theme is bold ambition for a resilient, future-ready economy.

We invite you to explore how your business can thrive in the excitement of this evolving landscape.

Sunshine Coast Council welcomes enquiries about business expansion or relocation and provides one of Australia's best local government investment concierge services.
