Hi there
The latest report card is out for the Sunshine Coast's Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS) and it shows stunning results for the region's economy.
Underpinning the Sunshine Coast's status as one of Australia's strongest regional economies is the fact that household incomes are now almost on par with the Queensland average, when just over 10 years ago they were more than 20% below.
There has also been major growth within high value industries, especially health and wellbeing, aviation and aerospace and tech.
The aviation and aerospace industry had the highest average annual income across the seven high value industries. With Bonza Airlines’ head office now at Sunshine Coast Airport and council's investment in the new runway, the airport’s international capability has untold potential.
During the 2022 financial year, Sunshine Coast Council assisted in securing $64.5 million in direct capital investment, creating 754 new jobs. The flow-on effect of this investment creates a $602 million economic impact and nearly 2000 jobs.
