Hi there

The Sunshine Coast is a major events powerhouse, driving millions of dollars into local businesses and highlighting new and emerging event infrastructure and industry investment.

Council supported 72 major events through the major events sponsorship program last financial year. These events attracted 178,000+ visitors to the region, primarily during off-peak periods, helping to create a smoother booking cycle for the travel industry.

Visitors arrived as spectators, participants and officials for 72 major events held across the region.

These events collectively delivered a record-breaking $112.6 million economic boost to local businesses, creating a positive ripple effect across industries—from accommodation and dining to retail, transport, professional services and event industry supply chains.

Businesses benefit from events through Sunshine Coast Council’s ‘EventsConnect’ directory, which connects event organisers with industry-specific local suppliers.

This online portal enables event organisers across Australia source local experts in all aspects of event management and operations. It is one of many innovative Council services designed to help Sunshine Coast businesses become more profitable and sustainable.
