Council has adopted an exciting plan to encourage new investment in the central business district of Caloundra - the Sunshine Coast’s city of beaches.
Some of the key initiatives identified in the Caloundra Centre Master Plan include:
- Attracting new investment with a particular focus on culture and the arts
- Encouraging residential development as part of mixed use development to support the core commercial area
- Creating a new town square and community hub with vibrant links to the main street and Bulcock Beach
- Creating a new gateway and transport initiatives to improve connections to and within Caloundra
To implement this vision, council is targeting investment by a range of business and industries including:
- Cultural and creative facilities
- Tourism activities and facilities (including hotel operators)
- Regional sport and recreation activities
- Education
- Health care and wellbeing, specialising in aged care and disability care
- Professional services
In particular, council is investigating opportunities for the Town Square Redevelopment which is intended to include a hotel and community facilities focused around a new town square.
