Aviation development

The Sunshine Coast Airport is being expanded to deliver direct access to the region from more Australian and international destinations.

Construction of a new 2.45 km runway, apron expansion and related infrastructure are expected to be delivered by mid-2020.

The project will reduce operational constraints, facilitate new route opportunities and increase passenger growth, driving the economic development of the region.

Designed to meet the needs of progressive and globally focused aviation companies and support industries, Sunshine Coast Airport offers world-class, fully-serviced aviation facilities and flexible lease sizes dependent on the needs of the business. Sites are now available for long-term lease.

In addition, the Caloundra Aerodrome is a key complementary aviation asset and supports general aviation activity with around 40,000 movements of aircraft and helicopters each year – primarily catering for the needs of light aircraft operations on the Sunshine Coast. The aerodrome is a vital cog in South East Queensland’s general aviation network and offers the potential to play an important role in the industry’s development in the region.
